What pushes a job up or down
- The fitting, not the hose. A port that is rusted, cross threaded or cracked needs an adapter or a port repair. It is the one thing nobody can see until the old hose is off, and it is the most common reason an invoice lands at the top of the range.
- Pressure rating and ends. Two wire hose with JIC ends is the cheap row. Six wire hose with code 62 flange ends is the expensive row. The machine decides, not us.
- Access. A hose hanging off a loader arm is twenty minutes. A mast hose inside a forklift channel or a line under a dump body is an hour.
- Rod and bore condition on cylinders. Good chrome means a reseal. Scored rod means shop work we quote separately and honestly.
- Several machines, one visit. The service call is paid once. Fleet and farm customers who batch calls pay the least per hose.
- Timing. After hours is labor at 1.5 times the day rate. A hose changed in the shed in March is the cheapest hose there is.
The crimp guarantee, in writing
A hose we made that weeps at the crimp within 30 days is remade at no charge. A cylinder we resealed that leaks at the same seal within 30 days is redone with no labor charge. Not covered, and said so on the invoice: rod or bore damage found at the reseal, a different hose failing on the same machine, and damage from running a machine on a leak you were told about. The old parts leave with us and there is no disposal line on the bill.
