Winnebago County alone has 816 farms working 145,000 acres, with 37,000 acres in soybeans, 36,000 in corn and 15,000 in forage, according to the USDA 2022 Census of Agriculture county profile. Fond du Lac County next door has 1,163 farms and sells $370 million of milk a year. Every tractor, loader, chopper, planter, baler, feed mixer and manure pump on that ground runs on hydraulics, and every one of them has a hose that will let go at the worst possible hour.
That is the call we built the truck for. We stock the long lengths that implements need, ISO and Pioneer style coupler tips for tractor remotes, the quick swap seals for small implement cylinders, and the large bore hose that choppers and manure pumps run. A field call is priced like any other call: the ring rate, then the hose or cylinder from the public table.
Planting, harvest and the dairy calendar
Spring is planters, tillage and loaders. Summer is balers, mowers and pivots on the irrigated ground around Ripon and Waupaca. Fall is choppers and combines, and the after hours calls that come with them. Dairy equipment has no season: feed mixers, skid steers and manure pumps run 365 days and their hoses fail at the fitting more than in the middle because they sit in wash down water.
We keep the seasonal stock on the truck to match. In September that means the big chopper hoses and coupler ends are on board before the phone rings.
The preseason walk around
The cheapest hose is the one changed in the shed in March. A preseason inspection is $120 to $250 per machine and produces a written list: which hoses are cracked, which cylinders weep, which lines are rusted at the clamp. We change the worst ones while there, priced from the table, and you decide the rest.

Spills in the field
Hydraulic fluid on the ground near a ditch or a drain is a Wisconsin DNR matter above certain volumes, and the DNR spill page explains when a call is required. A machine that failed in the field usually put a gallon or two down before it stopped. We carry absorbent and tell you honestly whether what we see is a report or a shovel.
